This social code describes what’s acceptable and what’s not while working with each other at Talented, and the steps we will take to restore our values when someone violates them. By setting out our code, we want to make our interpersonal guidelines crystal clear. We expect everyone in Talented to foster a well-organised, respectful and collaborative environment
- Treat every person who works with us or for us with respect, regardless of role, position, employment status or tenure
- Consider the needs and perspectives of others and how our words and actions might be received
- We avoid participating in overheated or offensive altercations and disrupting our workplace. We do not tolerate anyone intimidating, pestering, humiliating, victimizing or sabotaging others at Talented
- We also prohibit wilful discrimination based on age, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, race, religion or disability
- Don’t insult, bully, disparage, shame or mock others, and be vigilant for signs where you think others might be harassed or bullied
- Do not retaliate against others — everyone should foster a culture in which anyone can comfortably raise a concern without fear.
How can we create a harmonious & inclusive work environment
Behavior that contributes to healthy and friendly working relationships:
- Using courteous language.
- Being respectful and empathetic, especially when it comes to differing viewpoints and experiences.
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism and direct feedback, as well as offering it in that spirit
- Assuming good intentions. Approaching work relationships with a default of trust and positivity.
Unacceptable behavior:
What's unacceptable? Any behaviour that violates boundaries set by your colleagues, clients and partners is unacceptable. Even simpler - any behaviour that disrupts a healthy work environment. But here's a helpful guide, which is by no means exhaustive, but imperative to how we work and treat the people we work with.
- The use of any sexualized language or imagery
- The use of any violent language or imagery
- Making unwelcome sexual advances or giving unwanted sexual attention
- Any form of discrimination and harassment. Particularly on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, marital status, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law.
In general: ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’.
